Swimming Pool Fun in June
One of the perks of living in The Mansions of Georgetown apartment community is having a resort-style pool. Chilling in a swimming pool is a great way to stay cool during these hot summer months in Georgetown, Texas. As you’re swimming during the month, have fun with your friends by playing a few classic games. Here are a few of our favorites:
Marco Polo is a classic summer game for the pool. The person who is “it” calls, “Marco!” while their eyes are closed. The other people in the pool have to call back “Polo!” while avoiding the person who is “it”. When the person calling out “Marco!” tags someone calling “Polo!” the person tagged becomes the new Marco.
A variation of freeze tag, this game consists of one person being and remaining “it”. They swim after others, freezing them with a touch. Frozen players must remain immobile. However, if a player is underwater they cannot be tagged “it”, and if they swim past a frozen swimmer (otherwise known as a ‘Popsicle’) while underwater they unfreeze them.
Sharks and Minnows
This is essentially a game of tag. The game starts with a single shark who lurks in the middle (or one end) of the pool. The other swimmers are the minnows and begin the game at the other end of the pool. To begin the game, the shark yells, “Minnows in!” and the minnows dive or jump into the pool and try to swim to the other side without getting tagged by the shark. However, every minnow who does get tagged joins the shark’s team and helps tag other minnows. The last minnow to become tagged becomes the first shark the next time around.
Pool volleyball is great for a big group. Divide and spread out over the pool. If one team drops the ball or fails to return a volley, the other team gets a point. You can also just try to see how long you and your friends can keep the ball in the air.
